THE BASICS
Drake hits the road for the second time in as many weeks for another pivotal Pioneer Football League contest. Des Moines' Hometown Team will visit Indianapolis for a date with their canine counterparts, the Butler Bulldogs, for a noon kickoff on Saturday, Nov. 1.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs earned their 22nd PFL win in their last 23 games with a 21-17 road win at Marist. Thanks to a Presbyterian loss, Drake is now alone atop the PFL standings at 4-0.
TAJ-A VU
Receiver
Taj Hughes totaled 106 yards through the air on Saturday marking the second straight week a Bulldog has caught for that many yards as
Jackson Voth did the same vs. Davidson.
REDZONE STREAK RENDED
A
Logan Inagawa fumble snapped Drake's perfect redzone resume this season as the Bulldogs have now scored on 24 of 25 trips inside their opponents' 20-yard line. The Dogs still lead the PFL in red zone offense.
CONVERSIONS ON CONVERSIONS
The Bulldogs are first in the PFL when converting on third (44.8%) and fourth downs (87.5%). Drake's defense also leads the conference in opponent fourth down rate (16.7%).
BULLY BALL
Drake has leaned on its running attack thus far with the PFL's top ground game. Drake is averaging 193.7 yards per game and have had six different rushing scorers.
INAGAWA'S EFFICIENCY
Freshman QB
Logan Inagawa leads the PFL in completion rate at 71.1%. He is the only thrower in the conference with a completion percentage above 70.
ALLISON ALL OVER THE PLACE
Senior linebacker
Sean Allison, a preseason honoree on the Buck Buchanan Watch List, paces all PFL tacklers with 70 total stops. He is the only player in the conference to tally at least 70 tackles so far this season.
BALKE'S THE BEST
Harry Balke has been one of the premier kickers in the PFL this season. He is second in the league with 7.9 points per game, is one of two players with a 90+ percent success rate on field goals and boasts the longest made FG of the year with a 55-yard game-winner at San Diego.
DRAKE STAT LEADERS
SCOUTING BUTLER
The Bulldogs enter this weekend at 5-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Butler fell in its season opener against former PFL rival Todd Stepsis and the UNI Panthers before winning four of its next five games including a 21-14 overtime triumph at St. Thomas and 23-17 win at Dayton.
Drake leads the all-time series with Butler by a 15-3 margin. The Des Moines-based Bulldogs have won the last nine meetings with Butler's most recent victory coming in 2015. All three of Butler's wins in the series have taken place in Indianapolis.
Butler is led by first year head coach Kevin Lynch. The Bulldogs' new leader comes to Indianapolis after a stint as Ball State's offensive play caller and QB Coach.
