ST. LOUIS – Drake men's soccer redshirt freshman
Paul Ciszewski (Germantown, Wis.) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his performance during the period of Nov. 9-15, MVC Commissioner Doug Elgin announced
Tuesday.
Ciszewski scored his first career goal in the 78th minute 2015 MVC Championship match
Sunday to lift Drake past SIUE, 1-0. Ciszewski came through with his biggest career shot, blasting a ball from 35 yards out that found the back of the net to send the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009.
The Germantown, Wis., native is a double major in finance and mathematics with a 3.68 cumulative grade point average. This is the first career MVC Scholar-Athlete award for Ciszewski.
To qualify for MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
Drake plays at Kentucky
Thursday at
6 p.m. CST in the opening round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
