Billy Cundiff Returns to Campus For ?Kicking Cancer With Cundiff?

DES MOINES, Iowa – Former Drake football standout and NFL Pro-Bowler Billy Cundiff will return to campus this week to host 'Kicking Cancer With Cundiff' to raise funds for ovarian cancer research.

The multi-day event, staged in conjunction with Drake's Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) chapter, will allow teams of three individuals to compete against Cundiff in a field goal kicking competition to raise funds Colleen's Dream Foundation in the fight against ovarian cancer. Colleen Drury, for whom the foundation is named, was Cundiff's mother-in-law who recently passed away from ovarian cancer. The foundation was started in an effort to support early detection of, and advanced treatment for, ovarian cancer.

"We lost Colleen entirely too soon,” Cundiff said. “Colleen's Dream Foundation is our chance to build on her amazing legacy, while actively trying to change the landscape of ovarian cancer. We love and miss Colleen and unfortunately we are not the only ones to experience this reality. Colleen's Dream Foundation is our chance to help others who are directly affected by this terrible disease."

The event gets underway on April 18 at 5:30 p.m. on the turf at Drake Stadium. Teams of three will compete against each other in men's and women's division for the opportunity to kick against Cundiff. The cost to enter is $10 per person with the men kicking from the 20-yard line and the women's division teeing the ball up on the 5-yard line. Each team will have three minutes to make as many field goals as they can.

The winning men's and women's teams will then advance to compete against Cundiff face-to-face on Saturday during the halftime of Drake's Blue & White spring game. Teams can register at the door or donate directly to Colleen's Dream Foundation at http://kickingcancer.causevox.com/

Those not kicking can also support the cause on Thursday by cheering on the competitors from the stands for a $7 donation that includes a free meal from Jethro's. Participants in the competition will also receive a meal as well.

Fans and competitors can also enter a raffle to win various memorabilia autographed by Cundiff. Click here to download a registration form for Kicking Cancer With Cundiff.
