Spotlight: Coach Rick Fox

Full Name: Rick Fox
Hometown: Naperville, Illinois
Family: Wife: Julie; 3 Children: Rebecca (13); Hannah (11); Caleb (9)
Alma Mater: Wheaton College
Coaching Position @ Drake: Special Teams Coordinator and Offensive Line
Prior Coaching Experience: Aurora University (1987 ? 1991); Wheaton College (1992 ? 1998); Centre College (1999 ? 2007). I have coached the o-line (15 years), kickers (12 years); qb's (7 years) and coordinated special teams (5 years) and offense (9 years).
What Brought you to Drake: I knew of Drake from coaching against them in 1991 when I was at Aurora. I was familiar with Des Moines from my brother who lives in the area with his family. I also have known both Coach Creighton and Coach Neathery for over 15 years each so I was very familiar with the situation here. However, what was crucial was after much prayer my wife and I were convinced this was where God was leading us.
Favorite NFL team: Chicago Bears
Favorite Athlete: Eric Liddell from Scotland portrayed in the movie Chariots of Fire. Was first and to this day one of only two athletes to medal in the 200 and 400 in the same Olympic games.
Favorite Coach (any sport): JR Bishop (my high school and college coach)
Favorite Food: Chicago Style Pizza. Preferably from Lou Malnati's
Favorite Movie: Original Brian's Song movie about Brian Piccalo of the Bears. Watched it every year as a child and still like to when I can find it.
Favorite Band: I like everything from country to classical including folk, rock, blue grass and gospel so it is hard to pick a favorite.
Favorite Sport Other than Football: Baseball. Go White Sox!
Most memorable football experience: Being a part of turning two programs around as a player in high school and college.
If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be and why: Jermaine Dye of the White Sox as he hits the World Series walk-off home run versus the Cubs.
You are being relocated to an island and can only bring 3 things. What are they?
1) My Family
2) My Bible
3) A Short Wave Radio: So I can hear the White Sox beat the Cubs.
You have an entire day off from coaching, what would you do that day? I would relax with my family; worshipping together; reading or listening to music together; playing catch with my kids and walking with my wife.
