Women's Tennis Preps for Wisconsin Dual

The Bulldogs won their last match at home against South Dakota, 5-2.

MADISON, Wisc. – The Drake University women's tennis team will look to build on its recent momentum as it travels north to face Wisconsin on Friday. Action inside Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
 
The Bulldogs (2-1) defeated South Dakota, 5-2, in Des Moines on Saturday, Jan. 25. Kelsey Neville and Maria Tatarnikova each won their singles matches, and they combined to win 6-0 in their doubles match. The duo was recognized as the Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week.

The Badgers (1-1) return home after participating in the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Columbia, S.C. Wisconsin lost to Georgia Tech, 4-0, before rebounding to best Purdue, 4-1.
 
Wisconsin has experienced a remarkable turnaround under fourth-year head coach Kelcy McKenna. The Badgers ended last season 18-6 (9-2 Big Ten), winding up second in the Big Ten for its best league finish since 2002. Wisconsin also clinched its first berth in the NCAA Tournament since 2005, losing to Syracuse, 4-2.
 
Ava Markham returns after leading the team with 26 wins last season. The Badgers suffered two critical losses as their two best players from a year ago, Sara Castellano (graduated) and Lexi Keberle (transferred), are no longer with the team.
