FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Drake University senior Sarah Yeager (Ottumwa, Iowa) turned in a season best time of 13.59 in semifinals of the 100-meter hurdles at the NCAA West Preliminary on Saturday evening in Fayetteville, Ark. Her time was the 18th fastest on the day and narrowly missed advancing to the final heat by just 15 one-hundreths of a second.
That finish ends Yeager's season and her illustrious career at Drake in which she set the Bulldogs' school record in the 100-meter hurdles and won a pair of Missouri Valley Conference titles.
Yeager ran in lane two of the second heat on the day and finished sixth in her heat. UTEP's Janice Jackson won the heat with the fourth fastest time of the day in 12.98.
Yeager's race was the last for the Bulldogs at the NCAA West Preliminary. On Friday evening, sophomore Rob McCann (Mississauga, Ontario) punched his ticket to the NCAA Championship by finishing sixth in the qualifying heat of the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
