Women’s Basketball Trio Earn MVC Scholar-Athlete Accolades

To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete Team honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher and have completed at least one academic year at their respective institution.

ST. LOUIS – Three Drake University women's basketball student-athletes have been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team. Junior Caitlin Ingle (Runnells, Iowa) collected first team honors for the second-consecutive season while sophomore Maddy Dean (Jordan, Minn.) was selected to the second team and senior Emma Donahue (Naperville, Ill.) earned honorable mention accolades.
 
The three were part of 16 student-athletes honored by the MVC for their efforts in the classroom and on the court. To be eligible for Scholar-Athlete Team honors, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or higher and have completed at least one academic year at their respective institution.

Ingle, a point guard, has started all 29 games this season. She is averaging a league-leading 6.9 assists per game, which ranks sixth in the nation. Ingle recently passed the 500-assist mark and currently has 506 assists to rank fifth all-time at Drake and 14th all-time in the Valley. Ingle holds a 3.80 grade point average as a psychology major with a sociology minor.
 
Dean is pulling down a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per game while scoring 12.9 points per game. She has started all 29 contests this year, recorded seven double-doubles and scored double figures in six-straight games to end the regular season. Dean owns a 3.51 GPA in actuarial science and was named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Jan. 12.
 
Donahue has started every game this season for the Bulldogs after not starting a game in her first three seasons. She is second in the conference in blocks with 55 while averaging 5.0 points and 4.1 rebounds per game in her final season. Earlier this season, Donahue was awarded the State Farm MVC Good Neighbor award for good academic standing, good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service. She holds a 3.64 GPA in elementary education.
 
Drake begins play at the 2016 MVC Tournament in Moline, Ill. on Friday, March 11 at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs play the winner of No. 7 Illinois State vs. No. 10 Evansville.
