Drake Collects 4-3 Triumph At Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Drake women's tennis cracked the double-digit win plateau for the fourth consecutive year on the strength of the Bulldogs' 4-3 victory past Brown (10-5) on Thursday (March 20).

Drake (10-2) staked itself to a 1-0 lead after capturing the doubles point fueled by triumphs at the Nos. 2 and 3 positions, respectively.

Clinching the tally with an 8-4 decision past Ammu Mandalap and Ashley Noyes at No. 3 was the tandem of sophomore Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.) and senior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia).

The Bears regained the lead in singles, 2-1, with victories on the top two courts.

Johnson answered the call for the Bulldogs evening the affair at two besting Nikita Uberol at the No. 3 slot, 6-2, 6-4.

Junior Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) moved Drake to within a point of victory coming from behind to dispatch Sarah Kandath at No. 4, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Brown had an answer of its own taking the No. 5 match, 6-1, 7-6 (8), to square the contest at three.

With the outcome of the affair riding on the result on the No. 6 court, sophomore Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) registered a 7-6 (6), 6-4 triumph past Noyes to clinch the victory for the Bulldogs.

Drake closes out its spring break trip visiting Boston University for a 2:00 p.m. CT match on Saturday (March 22).
