TAMPA, Fla. - After day one on Friday of the South Florida Invitational was cancelled due to heavy rain, the Drake Bulldogs dropped two games on Saturday. The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated Drake, 4-1 in game one and Georgia Southern edged Drake, 2-0 in game two.
A two-run double by Arkansas in the first inning put the Razorbacks ahead 2-0 but the Bulldogs answered in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single by Torrey Craddock (Tucson, Ariz.) to plate Macie Silliman (Winterset, Iowa), who led off with a walk and stole second to get in scoring position.
Arkansas added a solo home run and a bases loaded walk added another run in the seventh inning as the Razorbacks improved to 5-1 on the season.
Jordan Gronewold (Carlisle, Iowa) started for the Bulldogs and the sophomore allowed eleven hits and four earned runs to take her second loss of the season (1-2).
In game two against Georgia Southern (5-4), the Drake Bulldogs offense struggled as the Eagles held Drake to two hits.
