Eight Drake Men’s Soccer Players Earn MVC All-Conference Honors

OMAHA, NEB. – Eight Drake men’s soccer players earned Missouri Valley Conference All-Conference honors Thursday evening at the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship banquet.

Drake sophomore forward Garrett Webb (Prarrie Village, Kan.) and senior defender Luke Frieberg (Cumming, Iowa) were tabbed as all-conference first team. Webb started in all 19 matches, scoring seven goals to lead the Bulldogs with 19 points. Frieberg, a captain on the Drake squad, also started in all 19 matches and made two assists.

Luke and Keith Gorczyca (Overland Park, Kan.) were named to the second team all-conference squad as midfielders, while Kevin Shrout (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) earned honorable mention laurels.

Nick Foster (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley), Matt Kuhn (Raytown, Mo.) and Mike Noonan (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) were selected to the MVC all-freshman team. All three players played in all 19 matches this season. Kuhn was second on the Bulldogs squad with six goals and led the team with six assists. Foster notched one goal and three assists, while Noonan netted four goals.

Drake ended its season with a 9-6-4 record last night after falling to Eastern Illinois, 1-0, in the opening round of the State Farm MVC Championship.
