DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University volleyball team has added three student-athletes to its roster, head coach Darrin McBroom announced today. Chandelle Davidson (Gretna, Neb.), Victoria Fajardo (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Nicole Woods (St. Charles, Ill.) joined the team earlier this semester and are eligible to compete in the 2014 season.

“I’m excited to be able to bring all three young women in during the spring semester,” said McBroom. “It will allow them to train with the team this spring and give them the opportunity to acclimate to Drake before their first season. I look for all three to have an immediate impact to our team this fall.”

Davidson, a setter, spent one season at Hastings College (Neb.) after a stellar prep career at Gretna High School. Davidson helped lead her high school squad to the Nebraska Class B State tournament four straight seasons, capped with a runner-up finish in her senior campaign. Hastings went 21-12 in 2013 and Davidson tallied 1,152 assists this fall.

Fajardo comes to Drake after two seasons at Scottsdale Community College (Ariz.). An opposite-side hitter, she played four seasons for Horizon High School in Scottsdale and helped the team earn a runner-up finish at the Arizona Division I State tournament.

Woods, a transfer from The University of Memphis, played the 2013 season for the Tigers. An outside hitter, she appeared in four matches her freshman season. Prior to Memphis, she was a three-year letterwinner for St. Charles East High School. The Saints were the Illinois Regional Class 4A Champions her senior season.
