DES MOINES, Iowa - On the strength of its 7-1 start to the 2014 campaign, the Drake women’s tennis team cracked into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, checking in at No. 72 in the latest poll released on Tuesday (March 4).

The ranking is the first for the Bulldogs since being rated 75th on Feb. 13, 2002.

“It is the first time since 2002 that the women's team at Drake has had an ITA ranking, so I am very proud of how hard the girls have worked for this honor,” Drake head coach Sadhaf Pervez commented. “In my experience though it is not how you start it is how you finish, so that being said we need to stay focused on continuing to get better everyday.”

The Bulldogs return to action hosting in-state rival Iowa at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center on Wednesday (March 5). Match time is set for 3:00 p.m.
