Eggleston Named MVC Women's Tennis Player Of The Week
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Missouri Valley Conference has announced that Drake freshman Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) was named the MVC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. The award marks the third time this season that a Bulldog has been honored, while representing the initial weekly accolade for Eggleston during her Drake career.
Eggleston registered a pair of victories to spark Drake to a 5-2 triumph in its MVC opener at Northern Iowa last Saturday (March 30). Her triumphs represented the winning tallies in both singles and doubles for the Bulldogs.
In doubles, she paired with junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) to register an 8-6 decision past Krissy Lankelma and Phoebe Walker at the No. 1 position. In singles, her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Trisha Hinke at No. 6 helped the Bulldogs to their second consecutive win in a MVC opener.
On the season, Eggleston owns a team-best 38-21 combined singles/doubles ledger. She leads Drake in doubles victories with 19, while ranking second in singles triumphs with 19.
Eggleston and the Bulldogs (8-7, 1-0 MVC) return to the Roger Knapp Tennis Center this Saturday (April 6) for a 2:00 p.m. showdown with Creighton.
