DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake women's golf team, under the leadership of third-year head coach Leanne Smith, has announced the addition of Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa/Hinton), who will join the Bulldogs' squad for the 2012-13 campaign.

A four-time all-state selection at Hinton High School, including first-team accolades this past season, Clausen placed sixth individually at the Iowa state championship as a senior helping the Blackhawks to a fourth-place team finish. She was also a member of a state runner-up squad as a junior.  Clausen collected first-team all-region and All-War Eagle Conference recognition in each of her final three campaigns.  She was also honored as Hinton High School's Valedictorian in 2012.

"I am excited to welcome Katie to the team," Smith commented.  "She has the potential to be a standout golfer for us as she has a great demeanor for the game of golf and is a well-rounded young woman. I couldn't be happier that she has decided to continue her golf career here at Drake."
