“I couldn’t be more excited for this opportunity,” Charles commented. “Getting to represent such a large part of who I am and share the experience with my family will be amazing. The support from my coaches and teammates has been unbelievable and I can’t wait to compete.”
The Haitian National Soccer Team will open the eight-team tournament for the region’s championship that is also doubling as a qualifying competition for the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by Canada next year against Bermuda on Aug. 19.
The team will also square off against Puerto Rico and Jamaica in group play on Aug. 21 and 23, respectively. The championship and third-place matches will occur on Aug. 26.
Trinidad and Tobago will be joined by the five first-round group winners; Antigua & Barbuda, Bermuda, Jamaica, Haiti and Martinique, plus the top two first-round runners-up; Puerto Rico and St. Kitts & Nevis.
The winner and runner-up from both Group A and Group B will earn places at the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship, which will determine the Confederation’s World Cup representatives later this year in the United States.
