TULSA, Okla. - Fueled by a career-low 74, sophomore Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) collected a top-five finish to propel the Drake women's golf team in final-day competition at the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout hosted by Oral Roberts on Tuesday (Oct. 2) at the Meadowbrook Country Club.

Brooks was the catalyst for the Bulldogs over the final 18 holes firing a 74 to conclude the tournament as Drake's top finisher (T-5th) with a 226 (77-75-74=226) score.

"I'm really excited for Danielle (Brooks), as her performance of shooting three rounds in the 70's is awesome," Bulldog head coach Leanne Smith commented.  "She played very well this tournament and has continued to show improvement over the past few weeks."

Drake carded a final-round 324 to post a 54-hole mark of 958 (313-321-324=958) to finish 11th among the 13 competing squads.

"As a team, we struggled with our long game today," said Smith.

Junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) was unable to keep her string of rounds in the 70's intact posting an 83 to register a 234 (74-77-83=234) total, good for a 17th-place tie.

"I'm disappointed that Hadley (Jennings) wasn't able to finish out with a top-10 performance, but this isn't a setback, as we will continue to work on our games and look forward to our next tournament at Missouri State," Smith explained.

Senior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) was off to a strong start for the Bulldogs before difficulties with her lie on a hole on the back nine resulted in a final-round 82.  She concluded the tournament with a 54-hole total of 240 (77-81-82=240), to finish tied for 34th place.

Freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) and sophomore Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) wrapped up competition carding tournament scores of 264 (91-88-85=264) and 266 (85-96-85=266) to place 70th and 71st, respectively.

"Ashley (Brooks) learned a lot in her first competitive rounds since high school and I'm excited to see her improvement over the fall," Smith stated.

Drake returns to action at the Missouri State Payne Stewart Memorial (Oct. 15-16) in Springfield, Mo.

DRAKE RESULTS: Danielle Brooks (77-75-74=226/T-5th), Hadley Jennings (74-77-83=234/T-17th), Chelsey Falk (77-81-82=240/T-34th), Katie Clausen (91-88-85=264/70th) and Ashley Brooks (85-96-85=266/71st)
