Junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) earned a top-five finish to lead Drake to an eighth-place showing at the Murray State Drake Creek Invitational hosted by Drake Creek Golf Club on Sept. 18.

The Bulldogs fired a final-round 327 to finish with a 54-hole total of 958 (317-314-327=958) to place eighth among the 11 competing schools.

Jennings closed the final 18 holes with a round of 74 to conclude her 54-hole effort with a 224 (77-73-74) score, which was good for fifth place.

Senior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) entered the day three shots behind tournament leader Shay Sullivan of Belmont, but was unable to close the gap, carding a final-round 79 for a 226 (73-74-79) total, good for a tie for seventh place.

Registering tournament totals of 246 (78-82-86) and 262 (89-85-88) to place 41st and 54th, respectively, were sophomore Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) and freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa).

DRAKE HEAD COACH LEANNE SMITH
Leanne Smith
is in her third season as head women's golf coach for the Bulldogs after serving as an assistant coach with the Drake men's and women's golf programs from 2006-2010.

This past season, Drake turned in top-10 finishes in six of its 10 tournament appearances.  Smith guided the Bulldogs through a spring campaign in which Drake was challenged by injuries, including its top-scoring individual, freshman Kimmy Askelson, who was lost due to injury.

Askelson directed the Bulldogs with a team-low 79.7 scoring average in 12 rounds, while sophomore Hadley Jennings turned in an 80.1 average in 28 rounds.

In her initial campaign leading the Drake program, Smith guided the Bulldogs to four top-six finishes, including three during the spring season.
