NORMAL, Ill. - Firing back-to-back rounds in the 70's, junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) led the Drake women's golf team to a seventh-place showing after 36 holes at the Redbird Invitational hosted by the D.A. Weibring Golf Course on Saturday (Sept. 8).
"Knowing that Kimmy (Askelson) was unable to play today as she returns from injury and that each individual score would count towards our team total, I am really proud of our effort," Drake head coach Leanne Smith commented. "The combination of Hadley (Jennings) turning in back-to-back solid rounds and having Chelsey (Falk) fire a strong second round were good confidence boosters for us to begin the fall campaign. Katie (Clausen) turning in a 79 in only her second round as a collegian was huge for us as well."
Jennings was the Bulldogs' top finisher posting a two-round total of 151 (74-77=151) to tie for fourth place.
Senior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) was three shots off her pace collecting a two-round score of 154 (79-75=154), to sit tied for 17th.
Freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) collected rounds of 84 and 79 to end her day with a 163 (84-79=163) score, which was tied for 43rd place.
Sophomore Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) tied for 57th after carding a 36-hole total of 166 (81-85=166)
The Bulldogs conclude tournament action with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday (Sept. 9).
