What's Ahead: The Drake women's cross country team looks to build off of its success at the Grand View Invitational last weekend when they head down Orlando, Fla., to participate in the Walt Disney Cross Country Classic on Saturday (Oct. 8). This will be the program's first trip to the invitational held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. Start time for the 5,000-meter race is at 7:30 a.m. CT.
Last Time Out: The Drake women's cross country "B" squad earned a second-place showing at the Grand View Invitational on Friday (Sept. 30).
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was freshman Melissa Parks (Norfolk, Neb.), who earned an eighth-place showing finishing in 19:39. 2010 Drake Relays 10,000-meter champion Obsie Birru of Grand View won the 5,000-meter race at Ewing Park in 17:51.
Close behind Parks was sophomore Erin Poss (Antioch, Ill.) who earned ninth-place with a time of 19:53.Fellow sophomore Celia Venezia (Labadie, Mo.) was 10th crossing the line in 19:54.
Up Next: The Bulldogs will compete in their final tune up of the season before the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship when they compete at the Bradley Classic on Oct. 14.
