Rowing Collects MAAC Academic Awards

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Drake University rowing program had 12 student-athletes selected to the 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rowing All-Academic Team, the conference office announced tonight at the league’s postseason banquet.

Ashley Beall (Irvine, Calif.), Maggie Benhart (St. Charles, Ill.), Mallory Bonstrom (Eau Claire, Wis.), Stephanie Boylan (Greenleaf, Wis.), Justine Choe (Morton Grove, Ill.), Emily Householter (Wheaton, Ill.), Bri Leinon (Sussex, Wis.), Alex Lueck (West Allis, Wis.), Jessica Nightser (Council Bluffs, Iowa), Katie Serbin (Hannibal, Mo.), Bri Varela (Olathe, Kan.) and Monica Worsley (Cary, Ill.) all were named to the academic team

Bonstrom, Choe, Nightster and Worsley are three-time winners, while Householter and Leinon are two-time winners.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 127 athletes comprise the 2014 MAAC Rowing All-Academic Team.

The 2014 MAAC Championship will be contested on Saturday on Lake Mercer, starting at 9:30 a.m. CST.
