Jane Detwiler is in her second year as the assistant women’s rowing coach. She helped lead Drake to the 2012 MAAC championship, the program's first conference championship.

Before coming to Drake, Detwiler coached high schools teams in Wilmington, Delaware.  As the head coach at Concord High School, she coached her teams to strong finishes at the Head of the Schuylkill, Head of the Charles, and Philadelphia City Championships. While coaching the novices at St. Mark’s High School, she led the novice girls’ four to a third place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional District Championships in May, 2010.

In 2000, Detwiler rowed in the New York Athletic Club 8+ that won the Canadian Henley. She has also been a member of Nereid Boat Club and the Wilmington Rowing Center.

Detwiler rowed in the varsity 8+ for four years at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, winning three State Championships from 1998 through 2000, and the Champion International Regatta in 1999. She participated in the Women’s Henley Regatta in England in 1998. For three years, 1999, 2000, and 2001, her Division III team was invited to row in the NCAA Division I National Championships.

Coaching since 2005, Detwiler holds a US Rowing Level III Coaching Certification. She graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2001 with a degree in political science.
