Foreman Named MVC Spring Service And Leadership Award Winner
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Jeffrey Foreman, a junior on the Drake University track and field team, has been named a Missouri Valley Conference Service & Leadership Award winner for the 2014 spring semester, the conference announced on Wednesday, April 30.
In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley will recognize 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees. Each institution has one athlete named to the group of Service & Leadership Award winners.
Joining Foreman in collecting the honors was Kendall Duffy, Bradley, Softball; Quinn Vilneff, Evansville, Men's Golf; Kelly McShea, Illinois State University, Women's Outdoor Track & Field; McCall Christopher, Indiana State, Women's Golf; Mary Whitmore, Loyola, Women's Outdoor Track & Field; Eric Straub, Missouri State, Men's Golf; Jamie Fisher, Northern Iowa, Softball; Anita Lee, Southern Illinois, Women's Tennis; Montse Blasco Fernandez, Wichita State, Women's Tennis.
A marketing major with a concentration in information systems from Winfield, Ill., Foreman is a Presidential Scholar. In the community, he has coordinate Drake’s Soles4Souls shoe drive the past two years. A member of the Bulldogs Student-Athlete Advisory Committee upon which he serves as the community service chair, he was the Drake Athletics food drive coordinator in 2013 and volunteered with the Central Iowa Shelter and Services while being a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leadership team.
