DES MOINES, Iowa - The NCAA Tournament preparations for the 48th-ranked Drake men's tennis team are nearly complete as the Bulldogs eye a showdown with 15th-rated Auburn on Friday (May 11) in Champaign, Ill.  Match time at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex is slated for 12:00 p.m.

DRAKE NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY:  Drake will be playing in its sixth NCAA Tournament match when it squares off against the Tigers.  The Bulldogs are in search of their first tournament victory after having fallen in the previous five tilts.  In Drake's last four tournament appearances, including this season, the Bulldogs have played on the Illinois campus.  In those affairs, Drake dropped 4-1, 4-0 and 4-0 decisions to Illinois, Louisiana State and Michigan in 2011, 2008 and 2007, respectively.

SCOUTING AUBURN:  Auburn is 17-9 overall and is making its 13th-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.  The Tigers are just 2-3 in their last five matches, but own a 13-9 record on the year versus ranked opponents.

Junior Andreas Mies, who ranked as high as No. 18 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, leads Auburn after finishing the regular season with a 26-9 overall record, including a 14-6 mark in dual match play with all matches coming at the No. 1 position.  He has qualified in the singles draw of the NCAA Tournament, while also garnering an invitation with senior Alex Stamchev in the doubles championship.

UP NEXT:  A first-ever NCAA Tournament victory by the Bulldogs over Auburn would send Drake into a second-round showdown with the winner of the Illinois/Western Michigan match on Saturday (May 12) at 2:00 p.m.
