Men's Soccer Adds Ten To 2014 Recruiting Class

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Drake men's soccer team, under the leadership of 17th-year head coach Sean Holmes, has announced the addition of 10 student-athletes joining the Bulldogs' squad for the 2014 campaign.


Donning the Drake uniform this fall will be Jonny Blake (Westville, Ind./Chesterton), Paul Ciszewski (Germantown, Wis./Germantown), Adam Cloe (Wadsworth, Ill./Carmel Catholic), Gabe Edel (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove), Steven Enna (Overland Park, Kan./St. James Academy), Austin Errthum (Kalona, Iowa/Mid-Prairie), Sam Graving (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston), Mason Leonard (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest), Tyler Moore (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) and Ben Troester (Iowa City, Iowa/Iowa City West).


"Once again we’ve attracted a strong group of student-athletes,” Holmes commented.  “I know they all can be successful students at Drake and I believe they have the ability to impact our team on the field.  I’m sure that they are all working towards the goal to compete for playing time come this fall. Ultimately, we’ll judge this group by where there are at in 2-3 years, but we’re excited by their potential.”


Blake, a midfielder from Chesterton High School, played three seasons for the Trojans and was a two-time all-conference selection en route to registering 30 goals and 25 assists.  He didn’t participate his senior campaign, instead playing with the Chicago Fire Developmental Academy. He is a member of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.


Ciszewski, a midfielder from Germantown High School, helped spark the Warhawks to a pair of conference titles.  A two-time all-state and three-time all-conference selection, he recorded 55 goals and 34 assists during his prep career, including 28 goals and 13 assists as a senior. He is a member of the Bavarians FC Soccer Club.


Cloe, a midfielder from Carmel Catholic High School, directed the Corsairs to a regional championship with a 21-goal, 15-assist campaign as a senior. He was twice named an all-conference selection en route to leading Carmel Catholic to a pair of East Suburban Catholic Conference titles. He is a member of the Liberty FC Soccer Club.


Edel, a forward from Center Grove High School, guided the Trojans to a trio of regional titles during his final three seasons.  A two-time all-state honoree, he registered 19 goals and 11 assists as a senior and finished his prep career having posted 32 goals and 30 assists. He is a member of the Westside United Soccer Club.


Enna, a forward from St. James Academy, guided the Thunder to a pair of state runner-up finishes en route to collecting 87 career goals and 51 assists. A three-time first-team all-state selection, he was named by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) this past fall as a high school All-America honoree after registering 34 goals and 13 assists.


Errthum, a defender/midfielder from Mid-Prairie High School, captured all-state accolades for the Golden Hawks as both a sophomore and junior. He is a member of the Iowa Soccer Club/Cedar Rapids Soccer Association Soccer Club.


Graving, a forward/midfielder from Johnston High School, has sparked the Dragons to state tournament appearances in each of his first three campaigns, including a runner-up effort as a sophomore.  Twice he has been named as an all-state performer, while having recorded 30 career goals and 14 assists. He is a member of the Johnston/Urbandale Soccer Club.


Leonard, a defender from Blue Valley Northwest High School, played his first two seasons for the Huskies before competing the last two campaigns with the Sporting KC Academy.  He collected 18 goals and 20 assists while playing for Blue Valley Northwest. He is a member of the Sporting KC Soccer Club.


Moore, a goalkeeper from Brookfield Central High School, helped lead the Lancers to regional final appearances each of his four seasons. A two-time all-state honoree, he twice garnered all-conference accolades. He is a member of the SC Waukesha Soccer Club.


Troester, a midfielder from Iowa City West High School, was a member of state championship squads for the Trojans as a sophomore and junior. He is the brother of current Bulldog Alex Troester and is a member of the Iowa Soccer Club/Cedar Rapids Soccer Association Soccer Club.
