MacLeod Named MVC Defensive Player Of The Week
ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Drake redshirt freshman goalkeeper Darrin MacLeod (Waterloo, Ontario/Resurrection Catholic) has been selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday (Oct. 28).
The accolade marks the third time this season that MacLeod has been bestowed with the weekly honor.
MacLeod turned in a strong week for Drake recording 17 saves and posting a 0.90 goals against average en route to collecting a 1-0-1 mark.
In the Bulldogs' 1-1 double-overtime tie at Loyola last Wednesday (Oct. 23), MacLeod made a career-high 10 saves, including all but one in the second half and overtime. He made three stops alone in overtime.
He followed with a seven-save performance in a 2-1 win over Bradley on Saturday (Oct. 26). Four of his stops came in the second half, including a pair after the Braves had cut the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1 at the 76:48 mark.
On the season, MacLeod has recorded 56 saves and sports a 0.77 goals against average and five shutouts.
Drake (8-5-3, 3-1-1 MVC) returns to action on Wednesday (Oct. 30) with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference showdown at No. 22 Creighton.
