DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake men's soccer seniors Matt Kuhn (Raytown, Mo./Raytown South), Thomas Ostrander (Fort Dodge, Iowa/St. Edmond Catholic) and Charles Schwartz (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) have been chosen 2011 Continental Tires/National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Midwest Regional selections.
Tabbed to the second team was Kuhn, while Ostrander and Schwartz were named to the third team.
It marks the fourth consecutive season and 10th time in program history that the Bulldogs have garnered at least two players on the all-region squad.
"We are extremely pleased for these three young men," Drake head coach Sean Holmes commented. "It is a terrific way to cap off their careers, that they are such good students, only makes us more proud."
Kuhn led Drake in goals (11), points (26) and game-winners (3), while sitting third in shots (44) and shots on goal (20), en route to being chosen to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team. Kuhn became only the second Bulldog to earn first-team Capital One Academic All-America accolades after being a first-team All-MVC Scholar-Athlete team recipient three times, collecting honors in 2008, 2009 and this season.
Ostrander was named a third-team selection for the second-consecutive campaign after leading the team in shots (46) and shots on goal (23), while ranking second in assists (4) and goals (5) en route to earning second team All-MVC accolades. He was selected to the Capital One Academic All-America All-District first team.
Schwartz ranks 20th nationally in total assists (8) and 32nd in assists (0.4) per game, while sitting third, sixth, sixth and seventh in the MVC in assists per tilt (0.4), points per game (0.90), shots per outing (2.20) and in goals per game (0.25). In conference-only contests, he ranked eighth in shots per game (2.33).
