DES MOINES, Iowa--The 2012 Bulldog Basketball Camps for boys are set for another exciting run this June and July at Drake University. Drake Head Coach Mark Phelps and the Bulldogs' men's basketball coaching staff lead the action-packed series of camps that cater to all skill levels from beginners to advanced players seeking individual instruction.
Three separate Day Camps are scheduled for June 11-14, June 25-28 and July 9-12, while a more intensive Individual Skills Camp is set for June 17-20.
"Our goal is to make sure each camper has a great overall experience," Phelps said. "We want to provide strong fundamental basketball instruction and create a culture where each camper is encouraged and empowered to learn and improve while having fun in a safe environment."
The Day Camps feature group instruction by age, individual and team shooting contests, individual skills work, guest lectures and an autograph session with current Drake Bulldogs players, full-court games, a tournament championship and awards.
The June 11-14 camp for boys ages 6-14 runs from 1-4 p.m. daily and costs $110 per camper.
Day Camp 2, from June 25-28, is split into a 9-noon daily schedule for boys 6-9 and 1-4 p.m. for boys 10-14. Each session is $110.
The third Day Camp, from July 9-12, is for boys 8-17 and runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., for a cost of $215.
The Individual Skills Camp is a more intensive all-day camp scheduled for June 17-20, with both an overnight and commuter option. Check-in is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on June 17, and the camp concludes with an awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. on June 20.
The focus of the individual skills camp is to provide individual instruction in all aspects of a basketball workout, and to work on those skills while participating in four daily games. Campers also will take part in team assignments, contests, clinics, video instruction, a Final Four tournament and awards ceremony.
Cost of the Individual Skills Camp for the commuter camper is $240, and for the overnight camper, which includes lodging and meals, is $315.
