Mission

The Drake University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is dedicated to establishing a unified voice of the student-athlete body, promoting and enhancing student-athlete camaraderie, contributing to the enrichment of Drake University's surrounding community and addressing pertinent issues as presented by the NCAA and/or fellow student-athletes.

Responsibilities of Executive Committee 

President / Co-President

  • Achieves the organization's mission
  • Provides leadership to the organization
  • Appoints the chairpersons of committees.
  • Discusses issues confronting the organization
  • Monitors financial planning and financial reports.
  • Plays a leading role in fundraising activities
  • Evaluates annually the performance of the organization in achieving its mission.
  • Sets the tone for the meetings.
  • Ensures that members have the information needed to do their jobs.
  • Oversees the logistics S.A.A.C. operations.
  • Assigns work to the committee members, sets the agenda and runs the meetings, and ensures distribution of meeting minutes.

Secretary

  • The Secretary is responsible for ensuring that accurate and sufficient documentation exists. Secretary records minutes of meetings, ensures their accuracy, and availability, proposes policies and practices, submits various reports to the board, maintains membership records, fulfills any other requirements of a Director and Officer, and performs other duties as the need arises.
  • The secretary is responsible for ensuring that accurate minutes of meetings are taken and approved.. Requirements of minutes may vary with the jurisdiction but should include at a minimum: Date, time, location of meeting / list of those present and absent / list of items discussed list of reports presented.
  • The Secretary ensures that official records are maintained of members of the organization and Board. He/She ensures that these records are available when required for reports, elections, referenda, other votes, etc.
  • The Secretary participates in SAAC meetings as a voting member. The Secretary provides items for the agenda as appropriate. In the absence of the President (and Vice-President, if the position exists), the Secretary calls the meeting to order, presiding until a temporary chairperson is elected. The secretary records meeting minutes as described above.

Treasurer

  • Manages finances of the organization
  • Administrates fiscal matters of the organization
  • Provides annual budget to the board for members' approval
  • Ensures development and board review of financial policies and procedures

Committee Chair

  • Sets tone for the committee work.
  • Ensures that members have the information needed to do their jobs.
  • Oversees the logistics of committee's operations.
  • Reports to the SAAC President.
  • Reports to the SAAC members on committee's decisions/recommendations.
  • Assigns work to the committee members.
  • Initiates and leads the committee's annual evaluation.

MVC Rep

  • Represents Drake S.A.A.C. at yearly MVC events.
  • Reports back to S.A.A.C. on major issues discussed at yearly MVC gathering.
