Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Bulldog Club, and where does my gift go? Membership in the Bulldog Club has a direct impact on the student-athlete experience at Drake University. Your unrestricted gifts to the Bulldog Club allow Drake Athletics to address the most immediate needs throughout all 18 sports at Drake and help fund new equipment and uniforms, athletic facilities, and team travel opportunities.

Is my gift tax deductible? In most cases, your Bulldog Club gift is tax deductible, excluding the value of benefits received. According to IRS tax section 170(1), or what is commonly referred to as the 80-20 rule, receiving priority point seating, parking passes, and other perks are considered benefits. The tax deductibility of your charitable gift will be impacted if you receive those benefits. While we have 501(c)(3) status through Drake University's annual fund, we strongly encourage you to consult your tax advisor for details and guidance.

Matching gifts are important to Drake, so please check with your Human Resources department to see if you qualify.
