Drake University student-athletes experience a model of intercollegiate athletics that is truly integrated into the fabric of the University. Student-athletes from 18 sports pursue degrees from all six colleges at Drake. The young men and women you witness in competition are also leaders in campus life and their community. Student-athletes are represented in Student Senate, Greek Life and various other student organizations. They perfrom hundreds of hours of community service for such worthy causes as Habitat for Humanity and Meals from the Heartland and regularly visit local schools and Blanks Children's Hospital.
Drake Athletics has a rich history and continues to to be a highly competitive program in the Missouri Valley Conference and the NCAA. Over the past five years Bulldog Athletic teams have won eight Missouri Valley Conference regular season championships, seven MVC tournament championships, and have earned eight NCAA tournament championship berths. These athletic achievements are complimented by academic excellence. During this time Drake has produced 11 Academic All-Americans, 214 Academic All-Conference performers, and a Rhodes Scholar - one of only four in school history, all of whom were student-athletes.
