Wilkins Named PFL Offensive Player Of The Week
SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Drake University sophomore running back Conley Wilkins (Overland Park, Kan.) has been named the Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday.
Wilkins earned the honor thanks to accounting for 14 of the Bulldogs’ 22 points in Saturday’s 45-22 loss to Grand View.
Wilkins carried the ball 16 times for 62 yards against the Vikings with a pair of touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He scored Drake’s first touchdown of the game on a 1-yard drive and followed that up with a 6-yard scramble to cap a 73-yard drive in which he rushed for 32 total yards.
With 10:48 left in the contest and Drake trying to stage a comeback, he scored the Bulldogs’ final points of the evening on a screen pass for a successful two-point conversion.
Wilkins and the Bulldogs return to action on Saturday, Sept. 6 to host Truman State at Drake Stadium at 6 p.m.
