Ron Pearson Court Undergoes Redesign
The Knapp Center’s Ron Pearson Court will have a new, vibrant look for the upcoming 2014-15 season after a summer resurfacing and redesign project.
Over the summer, crews spent nearly a month sanding the existing floor and painting a new design that gives the court an exciting new look. The new design features the Bulldogs’ logo at mid court with the sidelines and baselines painted blue. The baselines feature ‘Drake Bulldogs’ in bold white lettering while the lettering near the team benches includes the official Drake Athletics’ website, www. GoDrakeBulldogs.com and the department’s twitter account @DUBulldogs to promote the Bulldogs’ online platforms to television audiences. Watch the exciting transformation in the timelapse video below.
Near midcourt is the signature of Ron Pearson, the court’s namesake, and the Hy-Vee logo. Pearson, a Drake alumnus and Chairman Emeritus of Hy-Vee, had the Bulldogs' court named in his honor in 2010 thanks to Hy-Vee’s generous contribution to the Drake athletic department.
The Missouri Valley Conference logo remains in the same place as the previous design, inside each lane near the free-throw line.
Volleyball will be the first program to compete on the redesigned floor when it takes on North Dakota on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.
