DES MOINES, Iowa – Trevor Berkeley, a 6-6, 200-pound forward, has become Drake men’s basketball head coach Ray Giacoletti’s first signee at Drake, Giacoletti announced Wednesday, April 24.

Berkeley signed a National Letter of Intent with Drake after spending the last two seasons at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas. There he averaged 8.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game to help lead the Apaches to a 22-9 record last season. He also earned all-conference honors in 2012-13 under veteran head coach Mike Marquis who has coached more than 120 junior college student-athletes to the NCAA Division I level.

"We are thrilled to have Trevor be our first signed recruit,” Giacoletti said. “He's a high quality person, student and player.  His length, athleticism, and skill fill a need we have for our program.”

That length and athleticism helped him lead Tyler JC in both steals and minutes played.

Berkeley is originally from Tucker, Ga., where he graduated from Tucker High School prior to enrolling at Tyler JC.
