Iowa State garnered the doubles point on the strength of triumphs at the Nos. 1 and 2 doubles positions.
The tandem of sophomore Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and freshman Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium) earned Drake's lone doubles win at No. 3, downing Meghan Cassens and Ana Gasparovic, 8-5.
The Bulldogs exerted their muscle at the top of the singles lineup as Drake registered victories on the No. 1 and 3 courts, respectively.
Junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia) bested Simona Cacciuttolo at No. 1, 6-3, 7-6 (4), while Van Genechten dispatched Gasparovic at No. 3, 6-4, 7-5.
Drake returns to action next Friday (March 15) battling Bradley in a non-conference showdown at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Match time is slated for 2:00 p.m.
