The indoor courts maintained the same surface coating but will afford players a little more spring in their games during competition.
A 100 percent acrylic finish, with a brand new color scheme, one comparable to that found at the Australian Open (dark blue on light blue), highlights the courts. The surface is similar to that used at both the U.S. Open and Australian Open and is a medium-fast surface. The new indoor surface boasts improved grip and playability as well as compliments the lighting of the facility.
"We are very excited to have the both the indoor and outdoor courts resurfaced and completed," Drake head women's tennis coach Paul Thomson commented. "The new courts are going to enhance the playing environment at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center as well as benefit the players on both the men's and women's teams."
"We are looking forward to starting the 2012-2013 season having both indoor and outdoor courts resurfaced," said Bulldog head men's tennis coach Evan Austin. "We're constantly working to provide our student athletes with the best accommodations to train and compete at the highest levels of Division I tennis and beyond, and we feel this is another huge step in that process."
