ATHLETES TAKE NOTE!!!
The Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee has announced security enhancements for this week’s 2013 Drake Relays to ensure the safety and security of all fans and athletes in attendance.
Competing athletes, coaches, officials, medical staff and media with the proper credentials will be permitted to bring necessary bags into the facility. However, those items will also be subject to search prior to entry to the facility. Participants should give themselves ample extra time to enter the Stadium. Participants who have checked in and are being clerked to the track CANNOT take a bag/backpack with them or it will be searched, delaying their transition to the stadium.
All coaches and athletes should enter Drake Stadium though the spectator entrance on the NE corner of the facility. There will be separate lines for persons with bags.
Proper credentials will be required to enter the warm up areas. All bags entering either the Knapp Center or Field House will be searched. Do not leave bags unattended at any time.
Drake University will reserve the right to turn away any item that might be deemed a security threat.
High level unattached athletes who would like to be considered for the Drake Relays must meet minimum standards for their event. In elite level events, there is a limited field determined by the meet director. For University/College events, the number of unattached entries who are accepted is determined by the number of collegiate entries and the mark submitted by the unattached athlete. Unattached entries are not eligible for awards in University/College events. Submitted marks must have been attained in the last 15 months at a meet where the name, date and mark can be verified.
To be considered for the Drake Relays, CLICK HERE for the aspimeetz website. Fill out the required information for a username and password and enter under DRAKE RELAYS - UNATTACHED ONLY. If you're a single unattached athlete, please make your "team" name your first and last names (i.e. Jane Smith). If this is a group entry, use your team name (i.e. Track Univ.Unattached). The unattached entry fee of $30 is required of athletes who are accepted into the Drake Relays. Final deadline for considered entries is Sunday, April 14th at 6:00 p.m. CST.
