The Drake and Des Moines Boathouse
Located on the Des Moines River and three miles away from campus, Drake shares a boathouse with the Des Moines Area Rowing Club (for adults). The Boathouse contains a small boat bay for singles, doubles and pairs and a large boat bay for 4s and 8s. Drake rows in Dirigo and Pocock shells, the newest boats being Pocock pairs, doubles, 4's and one 8.
Directions to the boathouse: Exit I-235 at Pennsylvania Avenue, just east of the Des Moines River, continue north for about 1 mile, turn left onto Birdland Drive, cross lagoon. The boathouse is on the left at the Birdland Marina.
