Rick Fox is in his fifth season as offensive line coach and special teams coordinator in 2012.

Fox, who also serves as assistant head coach, guided an offensive line unit in 2011 that helped lead Drake to its highest yardage total (4,085 yards) since 2006. That accomplishment was even more remarkable in light of the fact that the offensive line went through several re-shufflings due to injury, yet still managed to protect quarterback Mike Piatkowski to earn Pioneer Football League offensive player of the year honors.

On special teams, punter/kicker Billy Janssen earned all-conference honors at both positions in 2011 and twice was named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week.

In 2010 Fox led a strong unit on the offensive line, and on special teams where the Bulldogs ranked fifth in the nation in FCS in 2010 in both punt and kickoff coverage, allowing opponents an average of just 3.4 and 16.1 yards per return, respectively. Drake's punt-return average of 13.5 led the PFL and ranked 15th nationally.

The American Football Coaches Association recognized Fox for his tremendous success and impact in 2010 by awarding him the prestigious FCS Assistant Coach of the Year.

Fox brought an extensive coaching background to Drake in January 2008 after serving most recently as offensive coordinator at Centre (Ky.) College from 1999-2007. He was promoted to associate head coach at Centre in 2006.

During his tenure at Centre, Fox coached 16 first-team all-league performers and 50 total offensive all-conference players.

Fox was offensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Wheaton (Ill.) College from 1992-99 and offensive line coach at Aurora (Ill.) University from 1987-92. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Wheaton College in 1986.

Fox was captain of the Wheaton football team in 1985 and graduated in 1986 with a bachelor of arts degree in history and secondary education.  He also earned a master's degree in Biblical studies from Wheaton.

He was recepient of the Presidential Award for Distinguished Service to Centre College in 2005.

Fox and his wife Julie have three children, Rebecca (17), Hannah (15) and Caleb (13).
