DES MOINES, IOWA -- The Drake men's basketball team remained nationally ranked in the top 25 of both the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today/ESPN Coaches polls for the seventh straight week.

That accomplishment tied the school record for consecutive weeks being nationally ranked held by the 1969-70 Drake team which was rated seven straight weeks from Jan. 27, 1970 through March 10, 1970.

Drake, which stands 25-4, stayed at No. 20 for the second straight week in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, while slipping to No. 21 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll.

It also marked the first time a basketball team from the Missouri Valley Conference has been nationally ranked seven straight weeks since Creighton during the 2002-03 campaign.

The Bulldogs received 346 points in this week's Associated Press poll compared to 621 points in the Feb. 25 poll. Drake earned 116 points in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll after receiving 259 points in the Feb. 25 poll.

Drake was rated as high as No. 14 in the Associated Press Feb. 11 poll, earning its highest ranking since the third to last week of the 1975 season when the Bulldogs also were ranked No. 14.

The Bulldogs also were ranked No. 15 in the Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 USA Today/ESPN Coaches polls.
