ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Drake senior Nick Marshall (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) and junior Thomas Schermoly (Olathe, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) garnered All-Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete accolades when the league announced its annual academic honors on Monday (Nov. 25).

The lone unanimous first-team selection, Marshall achieved first-team laurels for the third consecutive year, while Shermoly received first-team recognition for the initial time.

Marshall, who maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA majoring in computer science and chemistry, started all 20 games for Drake recording four goals, a team high, and adding two assists for the Bulldogs. A first-team All-MVC honoree, he led Drake to five shutouts this season, including a 1-0 road win at No. 14 New Mexico. He has been named a Capital One Academic All-America All-District selection each of the last three campaigns.

Appearing in 19 games, including nine starts this season, Schermoly, who owns a 3.72 GPA in biology, recorded three goals and one assist on only eight shots. He was chosen to the Capital One all-district team this fall.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.  Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 75 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable) or compete in the MVC Championship.
