Bulldogs Open Play At Kansas Fall Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. - A pair of Bulldogs in senior Ali Patterson (Overland Park, Kan.) and freshman Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp Belgium) moved into the second round of their respective singles draws with victories in first-day action at the Kansas Fall Invitational on Friday (Oct. 19).

Patterson registered a 6-2, 6-0 triumph past Stefannia Russo of Northern Iowa, while Van Genechten bested Yana Kakovkina of Arkansas-Little Rock, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, the tandems of Patterson and freshman Mariel Ante (Riverside, Calif.) and the pairing of Van Genechten and fellow freshman Lea Kozulic (Varazdin, Croatia) each dropped their respective opening matches before recording wins in back-draw action.

Action resumes at the Kansas Fall Invitational beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 20).
