Boyd And Eggleston Reach Main Draw At ITA Central Regional

TULSA, Okla. - A pair of Bulldogs in sophomore Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and freshman Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) moved into the main singles draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional on Thursday (Oct. 18) after each registering a pair of victories in qualifying-round play.

The duo joins junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia), who already earned a berth into the main singles draw.

Boyd erased a 7-4 third-set deficit against Anastacia Simons of Southern Illinois to record a 6-2, 0-6, 10-8 triumph, before downing Renata Kurikova of Tulsa, 6-3, 6-1.

Eggleston opened her morning notching a 6-3, 6-0 win past Bianca Strukeli of Central Arkansas and followed it with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) decision over Maria Toro of Saint Louis.

Suffering a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 10-5 setback against Wichita State's Montse Blasco Fernandez was freshman Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.).  In consolation action, Johnson collected a 6-1, 7-6 (1) victory over Simons of Southern Illinois.

Competition in the main draw begins with two rounds of doubles on Friday (Oct. 19) before singles action kicks off in the afternoon.
