In its last tournament of the fall season, the Drake women's golf team travels to Sarasota, Fla., for the 35th annual Florida International/Pat Bradley Invitational next Sunday (Oct. 21) through Tuesday (Oct. 23).
The 54-hole event will be held at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. Golfers will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. CT on the tournament's first two days before an 8:00 a.m. CT start on Tuesday (Oct. 23).
The 14-team field includes: Bethune-Cookman, Boston College, Bradley, Cincinnati, Daytona State, Delaware, Drake, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Jacksonville, South Dakota, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Western Illinois.
A LOOK BACK
Led by a final-round 78 from senior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.), Drake garnered a ninth-place showing among 15 teams at the Missouri State/Payne Stewart Memorial last Tuesday (Oct. 16) on the strength of a 54-hole score of 954 (316-315-323).
Junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) was the Bulldogs' top finisher with a 233 (77-73-83) score, an effort that resulted in a 24th-place showing.
Sophomore Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) was unable to keep up her pace over the tournament's final 18 holes, firing an 81. She finished her round with a 54-hole total of 235 (76-78-81), which tied for 27th.
Falk registered a 241 (81-82-78) effort to tie for 41st, while freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) closed her competition in 61st place with a 248 (82-85-81) score.
Sophomore Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) recorded a tournament score of 252 (84-82-86) to place 67th.

A YEAR AGO
Fueled by a pair of 78's from Hadley Jennings and Chelsey Falk, Drake fired a final-round 320 to finish 12th at the Pat Bradley Invitational at the par-72, 6,239-yard Pelican Preserve and Country Club's Egret to Ibis course in Fort Myers, Fla.
The Bulldogs concluded the tournament with a three-day total of 920 (331-325-320=920) on the strength of Drake's lowest score (320) of the event.
Jennings wrapped up action tied for 21st with a 54-hole total of 231 (77-76-78=231/T-21st).
Rounding out the Bulldogs' top four were Falk, Paige Menze and Christy Wittmer, who turned in tournament totals of 237 (80-79-78=237/T-46th), 251 (85-85-81=251/T-70th) and 257 (89-85-83=257/75th), respectively.
DRAKE HEAD COACH LEANNE SMITH
Leanne Smith is in her third season as head women's golf coach for the Bulldogs after serving as an assistant coach with the Drake men's and women's golf programs from 2006-2010.
This past season, Drake turned in top-10 finishes in six of its 10 tournament appearances. Smith guided the Bulldogs through a spring campaign in which Drake was challenged by injuries, including its top-scoring individual, freshman Kimmy Askelson, who was lost due to injury.
Askelson directed the Bulldogs with a team-low 79.7 scoring average in 12 rounds, while sophomore Hadley Jennings turned in an 80.1 average in 28 rounds.
In her initial campaign leading the Drake program, Smith guided the Bulldogs to four top-six finishes, including three during the spring season.
The Bulldogs open their spring campaign competing at the Jackrabbit Invitational (March 11-12) in Primm, Nev.
