TULSA, Okla - The Drake men's tennis duo of senior James McKie (Edinburgh, Scotland) and sophomore Alen Salibasic (Tuzla, Bosnia & Herzegovina) each registered singles wins to lead the Bulldogs in opening-day action in the pre-qualifying draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships on Saturday (Sept. 29).
Each player garnered a first-round bye and opened tournament action needing three victories to advance into the qualifying draw on Monday (Oct. 1).
Salibasic dealt Nate Lammons of SMU a 6-2, 6-2 setback in his contest. He will face Aliaksandr Malko of Sacramento State on Sunday (Sept. 30) at 11:30 a.m.
McKie posted a 6-3, 6-1 decision past Willie Sublette of UNLV to move on to battle Kevin Metka of Ohio State in a 10:30 a.m. match.
Action at the ITA All-American Championships resumes on Sunday (Sept. 30).
