The 15-team field includes: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, Oakland, Ohio, South Dakota State, Southern Illinois, Toledo and Western Illinois.

2012 BULLDOGS
The 2012 edition of the Drake women's golf team returns all but two members of its 2011 squad, while adding freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa) and sophomore Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) into the mix.  Redshirt freshman Kimmy Askelson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) and junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.) led the way in 2011 averaging 79.7 and 80.1 strokes per round.  As a team, Drake recorded a 324.4 scoring average with the Bulldogs firing a team-best 308 at the Badger Invitational.

A LOOK BACK
Drake carded a three-round total of 964 (321-329-314) to finish 12th at the Redbird Invitational on Sept. 11, 2011 at the par-71, 6,047 yard D.A. Weibring Golf Club.

Kimmy Askelson shot a 74 in final-round action to finish tied for sixth in her first collegiate tournament with a three-round total of 225 (78-73-74).

Rounding out the Bulldogs' top five were Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.), Hadley Jennings, Christy Wittmer and Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.), who turned in tournament totals of 243 (79-85-79=243/T-44th), 247 (82-88-77=247/T-61st), 250 (82-83-85=250/T-66th) and 257 (83-90-84=257/T-81st), respectively.

DRAKE HEAD COACH LEANNE SMITH
Leanne Smith is in her third season as head women's golf coach for the Bulldogs after serving as an assistant coach with the Drake men's and women's golf programs from 2006-2010.

This past season, Drake turned in top-10 finishes in six of its 10 tournament appearances.  Smith guided the Bulldogs through a spring campaign in which Drake was challenged by injuries, including its top-scoring individual, freshman Kimmy Askelson, who was lost due to injury.

Askelson directed the Bulldogs with a team-low 79.7 scoring average in 12 rounds, while sophomore Hadley Jennings turned in an 80.1 average in 28 rounds.

In her initial campaign leading the Drake program, Smith guided the Bulldogs to four top-six finishes, including three during the spring season.
