Sharp-shooting junior has emerged as a team-leader and go-to player, elevating his game in 2011-12...selected as the captain of the MVC Most Improved team for the 2011-12 season (selected over two first team all-conference players)...honored along with teammate Rayvonte Rice with the a all-MVC second-team selection...chosen co-captain by his teammates along with Jordan Clarke...started the final 13 games of his freshman season (2009-10) and the final 15 of his sophomore campaign a year ago...played in all 64 games in his first two seasons (28 starts) and averaged 7.0 points and 2.1 rebound per game...freshman-sophomore career numbers include 43.2 field-goal percentage (162-375), 37.6% from three-point range (79-210) and 87.5% from the free-throw line (42-48)...on Drake's four-game foreign tour of Australia and New Zealand in August 2011 averaged 17.5 points per game--second on the team--and 3.5 rebounds.

 

2012-13 -- Scored a team-high 19 points at Missouri State ... had a critical steal and hit two free throws to seal the win over Creighton ... averaging 15 points in the last four games ... scored 23 points with five assists and three assists at Illinois State ... held without a three-pointer at Creighton to snap a streak of 30 consecutive games with a three-pointer ... scored 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field against Missouri State ... had a career-high 10 rebounds with 13 points for his first double-double at Bradley ... scored 16 points including a game-tying three-pointer against NC Central ... has scored in double-digits every game this season ... recently surpassed the 1,000 point mark with 20 points in a loss to Xavier ... had a team-high 18 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the arc against Rice ... scored 13 points in the loss to Cal ... scored 11 points including a three-pointer with less than a minute to play to make it a two-point game at Detroit ... scored 25 points, the second most of his career, in the season opener against William Jewell and was 5-of-7 from three-point range ... recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the exhibition against SBU. 

 

2011-12 (Junior) -- Has started in each game he played in this season except two and ranked second in the team in scoring and minutes while leading the team in free throw percentage (.849)...That free throw percentage was good enough for second in the MVC, as well as his minutes played...Led the league in three-pointers made (77), was fourth in scoring (16.4) and ninth in three-point percentage (.425)...selected as the captain of the MVC Most Improved team for the 2011-12 season (selected over two first team all-conference players)...honored along with teammate Rayvonte Rice with the a all-MVC second-team selectionhas scored in double digits in all but one game...has games of 29 (Wichita State, 1/28), 24 (Iowa State, 11/15), and 22 (Ole Miss, 11/18) points. Ben leads the Missouri Valley in three-pointers made (57, 2.5 per game) and free throw percentage (.877%). His average of 36.3 minutes per game is the second highest in the league and he is sixth in scoring averaging 16.1 points per contest.

  • Scored 14 points and shot 50 percent from the field (5-for-10, 2-for-4) in his return to action after missing five games due to mononucleosis.
  • Scored a career-high 29 points, shooting 50% from the field (11-22), in three overtimes against Wichita State (1/28). He played 53 minutes and recorded eight rebounds.
  • Has made three or more three-pointers in seven games thus far.

2010-11 (Sophomore) -- Played in all 31 games, including starts in the final 15 games of the season, and averaged 8.1 points and 2.0 rebounds per contest.

  • Ranked seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference in field goal percentage (.480), connecting on 94 of 196 shots from the field.
  • Ranked third in the MVC with a team-best 42% mark from three-point range (42-100).
  • Led the team in free-throw percentage at .880 (22-25).
  • Led the team in scoring three times, all in the second half of the season.
  • High scoring game of 22 points came  vs. Chicago State (12/23/10).
  • Averaged 10.3 points per game in league play and 10.6 points per game over the final 21 games of the season.
  • Scored in double figures 12 times, all in the final 21 games, and reached double-digits in 11 of the final 18 games and seven of the final 11.
  • Season-high rebounding performance (8) came vs. Creighton (2/8).
  • Made first start of the season Jan. 12 at Evansville and remained a permanent starter over the final 15 games.

2009-10 (Freshman) — Appeared in 33 games, starting in the first 13 contests of the season, averaging 5.8 points and 2.1 rebounds per game.

  • Reached double-figure scoring in seven games.
  • Hit four three-point baskets in college starting debut vs. IUPUI, while collecting four steals and four assists.
  • Followed with career-high 24 points vs. Iowa State, nailing four treys.
  • Had 20 points and a career-high six rebounds vs. South Dakota, hitting seven of 10 shots.
  • Scored 15 points at Indiana State, making career-high five three-point baskets.
  • Came off bench to score 11 points in BracketBusters victory at Cal State Northridge.
  • Made three of six three-point shots vs. San Diego State.

High School — Finished runner-up for 2009 Mr. Basketball in Michigan...named 2009 Associated Press Michigan Class B Player of the Year...averaged 29.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.1 steals per game as senior...had two 44-point games and a pair of 38-point efforts...led Cadillac to a 17-4 record and No. 9 ranking in the final 2009 Michigan Class B poll...two-time first-team Michigan Class B all-state selection by the Detroit Free Press and the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan...was a three-time first team All-Big North Conference performer who averaged 18.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.7 blocked shots, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in 2007-08 while leading Cadillac to a 16-6 record...had 29 points vs. Traverse City Central while grabbing 15 rebounds vs. Mount Pleasant...was nominee for the 2009 McDonald's High School All-American game.
