DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake men’s soccer senior Nick Marshall (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville) and junior Thomas Schermoly (Olathe, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas) have earned recognition for their efforts in the classroom being tabbed first-team Capital One Academic All-America All-District VI selections.

Marshall was named to the first team for the third consecutive year, while Schermoly earned the honor for the first time. Both Bulldogs remain in contention for national Academic All-America laurels.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.  Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).

A team captain, Marshall, who boasts a perfect 4.00 GPA majoring in computer science and chemistry, owns three goals and a two assists for the Bulldogs this season. He has helped spark Drake to five shutouts this season, including a 1-0 road win at No. 14 New Mexico.

Schermoly, maintains a 3.72 GPA in biology and has appeared in 16 games for the Bulldogs registering three goals on only six shots. Earlier this fall, he recorded Drake's first hat trick since 2005 with a three-goal performance in 4-1 road triumph at Evansville.

The Bulldogs (8-6-3, 3-1-1 MVC) close out their non-conference schedule on Sunday (Nov. 3) with a 1:00 p.m. tilt at UIC (Illinois at Chicago).
