WICHITA, Kan. - The Drake women's tennis team registered a 4-1 victory over Northern Iowa on Friday (April 26) in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Championship to advance to the conference semifinals for the second year in a row.

The Bulldogs moved onto the MVC semifinals where they will face second-seeded Southern Illinois in a 2:00 p.m. tilt on Saturday (April 27).

Drake captured the early momentum in the affair claiming victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles positions to stake itself to a 1-0 advantage.

Securing the doubles tally with an 8-5 decision at No. 1 past Krissy Lankelma and Phoebe Walker was freshman Jordan Eggleston (LaQuinta, Calif.) and junior Klavdija Rebol (Kranj, Slovenia).

The Panthers evened the affair at one in singles after a win by Walker at the top spot.

Sophomore Nell Boyd (Arlington Heights, Ill.) put Drake ahead to stay after besting Jessica King, 6-4, 6-3, on the No. 4 court.

Extending the Bulldogs' lead to 3-1 at No. 3 was freshman Maddie Johnson (Onalaska, Wis.), as she dispatched Chelsea Moore, 6-4, 6-1.

Punching Drake's ticket into the semifinals with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph at No. 2 over Lankelma was freshman Evy Van Genechten (Antwerp, Belgium).
