WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Sophomore Dane Worley (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) fired a final round 73 to lead the Drake men's golf team at the Boilermaker Invitational on Sunday (April 21) at the Kampen Course. The Bulldogs finished the tournament with a 54-hole score of 938 (314-316-308).
“I thought Dane (Worley) played really well today bouncing back from a double-bogey on the opening hole to play -1 the rest of his round,” Drake head coach Matt Lewis commented. “We hit the ball well today and did our best to minimize big numbers, we just didn't have the fourth score to turn in a strong round.”
Worley turned in the Bulldogs' top finish tying for 49th place, with a 54-hole total of 230 (77-80-73).
Junior Matt Ohl (Milford, Iowa) and freshman Will McDonald (Tulsa, Okla.) followed in the standings with 71st- and 75th-place efforts on the strength of tournament scores of 236 (80-79-77) and 239 (80-77-82), respectively.
Drake closes outs it regular season traveling to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship (April 29-30).
