BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Drake women's golf team struggled to find its game during the opening day of the Indiana Invitational on Saturday (April 13) as the Bulldogs carded a 665 (335-330) total through 36 holes at the Indiana University Golf Course.
“We struggled with our ball-striking ability today and we lacked the confidence needed to be successful,” Drake head coach Leanne Smith. “I saw some improvement in our short games today, even though the scores were not reflective of that effort. I'm hopeful we can come out tomorrow and turn in a strong final round.”
Senior Chelsey Falk (Glenwood, Minn.) led the Bulldogs' efforts through two rounds firing a 162 (80-82) total to find herself tied for 44th place.
One stroke off her tournament pace is junior Hadley Jennings (Trenton, Mo.), who registered a 163 (83-80) score, good for a tie for 50th place.
Completing Drake's efforts were sophomores Danielle Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) and Ashley Brooks (Red Wing, Minn.) along with freshman Katie Clausen (Hinton, Iowa). The trio posted 36-hole scores of 168, 172 and 181, respectively, to garner 71st-, 79th- and 82nd-place showings.
The Bulldogs close out their stay at the Indiana Invitational with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start on Sunday (April 14).
